minimum wage calculator

cashMost working people in Britain have a right to a minimum level of pay through the National Minimum Wage. The rules can be pretty complicated however, so we've built this online calculator to help you see how it works for your own situation.

Just answer the questions on each page and we'll work out if you're entitled to the minimum wage, and how much you can expect for the hours you do.

categories of worker

The minimum wage covers 'workers'. This includes employees, agency workers and those who are self-employed for tax purposes. The minimum wage does not cover the genuinely self-employed who are running their own businesses.

Do any of the following options fit your working situation in the job that you want to evaluate?

Note: To be self-employed and running your own business you should be able to decide to turn down work, be able to work for more than one employer and get most of your income from profits rather than wages.
